MDS World Awareness Day 2022

October 25

Every year on October 25, the MDS Alliance and their member groups around the world, come together to raise awareness of Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), which is a type of rare blood cancer, where the bone marrow does not produce enough healthy blood cells.

There are a number of types of MDS, some of which stay mild and can be undetected for years, others are more serious and progressive, and symptoms are felt and seen.

This World Awareness Day, we are sharing information on the signs and symptoms of MDS and highlighting that getting a blood test, with a full blood count analysis can confirm a diagnosis, as with all cancers, the earlier the diagnosis, the better, so please get involved in sharing the materials available below and help spread awareness. Thank you

How can you GET INVOLVED?

We are focusing on the signs and symptoms of MDS, we are asking everyone, to think about their family and friends, and to question if they have noticed any signs or symptoms that we are highlighting and encouraging these loved ones to get a blood test.

Please share these materials, either on your social media platforms, or by printing out one of the posters and popping it on your local community board, healthcare setting, or other place where the information can be seen.

Facts about MDS

In raising awareness of Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), signs and symptoms, there are also facts that can be shared. Here are 10 facts of MDS, that you can share. Please download and print, or share on your social media channels.

The more that are shared, the greater the opportunity is for others to see and share this information. Helping someone realise they might have symptoms and encouraging them to get a blood test and be diagnosed, is the first and most important step to take.
